Measuring For Womens Costumes
Getting the right fit starts with a tape measure, not a guess. Here's how we size our women's costumes, and what to check before you buy or hire.
How to measure
- We hand measure every costume, and sizes do vary slightly between two costumes of the same labelled size.
- Allow a bit of room to move inside the chart.
- You'll need your bust, waist, and hips measurements for the most accurate fit.
Dress length
- Some dresses are short — use a tape to compare against the length listed, and wear boy shorts or leggings underneath if you'd feel more comfortable.
- If you're not especially tall, a dress that looks short on the model will sit longer on you.
- If a dress length shows 155cm and you're 155cm tall, that's not the dress for you — unless you're going for the "most oddly dressed" prize.
Choosing the right size
- Don't rely on your normal dress size — there's too much variation between designers for it to mean much.
- We stock many different brands, so a distinct size chart appears on each item's own product page.
- Our models wear their own size, not necessarily the one listed in the description.
- If your favourite costume only comes in a Medium but you usually wear a Large, don't force it — check the chart first. Being the only size available doesn't mean it'll fit.
